Privacy Policy

This is a course, not a business with a customer database, so the honest version of this policy is short. Last updated October 9, 2026.

What we collect

One thing, and it is not your email address: there is no signup field anywhere on this site, no mailing list, and no course emails to subscribe to. The one thing is analytics, a record of how the lessons are read, and the next section explains exactly what it covers and how to switch it off.

We do not ask for your name, your address, your phone number or any payment details, because there is nothing here to pay for.

How the analytics works

Two tools do the measuring. Cloudflare, which delivers the pages, counts visits with its Web Analytics; it sets no cookies and shows us totals only. Google Analytics 4, provided by Google LLC (Google Ireland Ltd. for learners in Europe), records which lessons you open, the site that sent you, your approximate location (city and country), your device and browser, and how long you spend.

GA4 doesn't log your IP address, and doesn't store it either. We've turned off its advertising features, Google signals and ad personalisation, so nothing it gathers is used for ads, and we do not sell any of it. It sets two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_<ID>, which hold a random ID for up to two years. They are set only after analytics is allowed, and deleted if you say no later.

If your device's time zone is in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, a banner asks you first, and nothing is sent to Google unless you accept. Elsewhere analytics is on by default and you can turn it off at any time. A browser sending Global Privacy Control is treated as opted out. We store your answer in local storage as analytics-consent, not as a cookie. Use cookie settings to see the banner again. For Google's side, read the Google Privacy Policy; to block Google Analytics on every site, install Google's opt-out add-on.

What we never do

We keep no list of readers, so there is no email address here to sell, rent or trade, and nothing to pass to any tool mentioned in a lesson. We send no course email at all: until September 2026 a signup box sat at the foot of these pages, it was never connected to anything, and it has been removed rather than left to imply a mailing list that did not exist.

Cookies and outbound links

The site itself sets no advertising cookies; its own cookies are the two Google Analytics ones described above. A small number of outbound links are affiliate links, and clicking one may set a cookie belonging to that company so they can attribute the referral — that is their cookie under their policy, not ours. Which links those are, and how few there are, is set out in the affiliate disclosure.

Getting your data removed

There is no mailing list to leave and no stored address to remove. If you want to know exactly what we hold about you, or want anything we do hold deleted, write to us and we will do it and confirm. You do not need to give a reason, and depending on where you live you may have a legal right to ask — but you can ask regardless.
